Hi, I’m Katy Elliot and I started Cowgirl Up Adventures in 2016 from scratch. Offering trail rides, horsemanship lessons, and overnight pack trips up the Moose River in Mount Robson Provincial Park. Previously, I spent 10 years working for another outfitter (Tony Parisi - Snowfarmers) and then decided to venture out on my own. I have worked for a few other outfitters from the Willmore to hunting camps in Northern Alberta.
From a young age I was always crazy about horses, I read every book I could find and watched every horse movie. Round about the time I taught the family dog how to jump, dad decided it was time for a horse! I started taking lessons with Nancy Hansen at Windcrest stables, she had a lovely barn full of Arabian horses. Little did I know that a lifelong friendship would develop. She put many hours of training into me and gave me the opportunity to show. I spent every hour at the barn I possibly could. I still take lessons, attend clinics, and read a lot of material on horsemanship etc.
Fast forward to today. I became a certified instructor with Certified Horsemanship Association and have been guiding and teaching lessons since 2008. I got started with 2 horses, leasing, and training horses until I amassed the herd I have today. I now breed, raise, and train my own horses. They are my “people” and are with me from birth until death. My top priority is their physical and mental well-being and I use natural horsemanship training methods.
I have combined my lifelong passions of the outdoors and horses with Cowgirl Up Adventures. I have always loved the backcountry and spend as much time as I can in the great outdoors. I love to explore and go where humans usually don’t go. I enjoy sharing these experiences with others. So if you’re looking for an off the beaten path adventure and experiencing a different way of life, you’ve come to the right place!
